Celebrated cricketer Mark Ramprakash is one of only 25 players in the history of the sport to have scored 100 first-class centuries.
A right-handed batsman, he initially made his name playing for Middlesex and was selected for the England team at age 21. Playing his first match for Middlesex at 17, he came to national prominence at 18 when he won the man-of-the match award in the 1988 NatWest Trophy.
He was the first man to score 2,000 runs in a season since the Australian Mike Hussey in 2001. Mark Ramprakash also became the first man to score over 150 runs in an innings in five consecutive matches. He is only the sixth man to average over 100 runs over eight or more completed first-class innings in an English season.
He won the Professional Cricketers’ Association Player of the Year Award in 2006; at the same time being selected as one of five Wisdon Cricketers of the Year. Starring in Strictly Come Dancing in 2006, Mark Ramprakash delighted teammates and fans with a winning salsa scoring 10/10 from all four judges.
