Yogamalar

Yogamalar was deserted by her husband in 2007. She found it difficult to make ends meet and pay for her son’s education. She joined an OfERR self-help group and received a loan to buy 10 chickens and a shelter for them. Her flock has grown to 55 — and now she is not only earning a living, but able to save. Yogamalar has repaid her loan and is financing her son’s schooling. Her new standard of living has boosted Yogamar’s confidence. She is no longer shunned by her community and now participates in local social activities.

Paul Barker

Paul Barker found out about Street League from a friend. Shortly after, he met Street League Progressions Workers Brian and Fiona who convinced him to attend street football sessions. From here Paul signed up for the Street League Academy Programme where he gained coaching certificates, his First Aid Certificate and more.

Now Paul studies catering at Glasgow Metropolitan College and hopes to cook professionally in the future.

“I was always into cooking at school and enjoyed a kick-about in the park most nights, but I had no idea what I wanted to do,” says Paul.

“I enjoyed the whole experience at Street League, playing regular football kept me fit and the progressions guys helped me realise what I wanted to do with my life. On top of that I made friends that I’m still in touch with now.”
