Manthar is a farmer who lives in a mud hut in Khaskheli village in District Badin. Life was a real struggle for Manthar as he was the sole bread winner of the family as five of his seven children as well as his brother and sister were totally blind.
Manthar’s fate changed when the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) responded to a letter of appeal in a newspaper made on his behalf by a concerned individual. LRBT sent a doctor to examine the family and it was found that every member had a treatable condition. Not only did all his family receive free treatment, but all their transport and living expenses were paid for by LRBT. With their sight restored, Manthar’s family have now become active and productive members of their community.
