The first ever Pakistan Rugby League kit, bearing the logos of The Pakistan Recovery Fund and The British Asian Trust, was launched on 28 November in Leeds.
The Pakistan Recovery Fund (PRF) was convened by The British Asian Trust at the request of HRH The Prince of Wales in response to the ongoing humanitarian effort still required in Pakistan following the 2010 floods. It is managed on behalf of the Prince of Wales by Knighton White whose logo also appears on the kit.
The Pakistan Rugby League and Ikram Butt have been pivotal in raising vital funds for the campaign to help families and communities devastated by the floods. Chronic poverty, disease and displacement threaten the flooded areas where more than 1.7 million homes and 20 million people have been affected.
“We welcome this powerful show of support for The Pakistan Recovery Fund,” said Hitan Mehta, Executive Director of The British Asian Trust and member of the PRF Leadership Committee. “The worst flooding in Pakistan’s history means the need for action is urgent,” he said.
