Mumbai Mobile Creches Director Vrishali Pispati discusses her organisation’s partnership with The British Asian Trust.
1. How would you describe Mumbai Mobile Crèches’s relationship with the Trust? Mumbai Mobile Crèches’s (MMC) relationship with the Trust has been a very fruitful one. We have worked together for about a year to develop a strategy and timeline for our work under the Trust’s grant. The Trust supports MMC’s current and long-running initiatives and also encourages MMC to begin new initiatives to broaden and strengthen our work. We look forward to our continued partnership over the coming years.
2. What type of support does the Trust provide to MMC and why is it important? The Trust provides support to MMC’s field programmes, allowing MMC to run about 30 day care centres for children living on construction sites; to provide three nutritious meals a day; to provide medical assistance and medicines and to make learning engaging and fun for all the children. Trust support has enabled us to continue to work for children who might not otherwise have access to education, health care or even just a safe space.
3. What kind of impact does The British Asian Trust have on MMC? Support of the Trust has helped us expand from 24 centres to current 30 centres, improve our educational programme and strengthen the scope and reach of our work.
4. How do the Trust’s due diligence requirements impact MMC? The Trust’s due diligence and support as a grantor has enabled MMC to be forward thinking and develop our work within a framework of shared values and guidelines. With Trust’s support we continue to improve upon existing and developing new systems and documents in areas of child protection, impact assessment and strategy.
