Experience Britian’s first National Orchestra for Indian Music on 6th March at London’s South Bank Centre.
Featuring the country’s best young talents and a variety of beautiful Indian classical instruments, Milapfest’s new concert production - ‘Confluence’ - fuses styles, ideas and generations to create an exciting new sound.Confluence showcases two celebrated orchestras: Samyo, the UK’s only South Asian Music Youth Orchestra; and Tarang, a dynamic ensemble of young classical musicians. Both groups combine a wide range of instruments originating from both North and South Indian traditions. They blend Indian classical styles with contemporary elements creating an extraordinary fusion.
“The Samyo and Tarang musicians are hugely inspiring,” says Alok Nayak of Milapfest, producer of Confluence. “They are representatives of a new generation of British Asians, with Eastern and Western sensibilities. They bring this out in upbeat, scintillating music,” he said.
Tickets are £9 and £4.50 for concessions for the 5 p.m. concert at the South Bank Centre.
