The British Asian Trust celebrated a winning year in 2010 with growth and achievements paving the way for further exciting progress in 2011.

2010 saw the Trust supporting 11 high-impact charities focusing on education, health and livelihoods in South Asia and the UK. Together we are touching the lives of 350,000 disadvantaged people.

hitan and cricketeersWe welcomed the support of a number of new corporate partners: Rubicon, Lloyds TSB Development Capital, Colony Bar and Grill and Accenture. We were proud to be selected as the preferred charity for the British Asian Sports Awards (BASA) and Asian Art Awards.

Sixteen celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, media and sports joined our Ambassador’s team which continues to grow.

We celebrated a number of exciting events in 2010 including our Friends and Patrons Dinner at St James’s Palace in April, the Rubicon Target cricket matches in the summer and the our Charity Polo Match in September. In October, HRH The Prince of Wales paid a visit to our newest charity partners - - Wells for India and JBF.

HRH The Prince of Wales SpeechOur in-depth knowledge of Pakistan and experience with charities there earned us a key role in The Prince’s new initiative following the floods that devastated the country in 2010.

We launched our latest website in March along with regular e-newsletters to keep you up to date with our vital work. You can also keep in touch through our new Facebook, Twitter and You Tube presence.

Over the next year, we plan to expand our portfolio with a range of leading edge charities that are building the capacity of people to lift themselves out of poverty.
