Young urban slum dwellers in Gujarat, India forced to leave school early to support their families will learn new skills and earn better wages thanks to a partnership between The Tesco Charity Trust and The British Asian Trust.
Support from The Tesco Charity Trust, the charitable arm of the UK’s grocery market leader, will transform the lives of young people and their families surviving on as little as £10 a month. The doors to urban job markets will open for 250 disadvantaged youth who will acquire job and life skills leading to employment in information technology, sales, hotel management, office administration and other fields.
Santas supporting The British Asian Trust ran up a grand total of £1,700 for our vital work to help people South Asia overcome poverty.
Participating in a Santa race on 3 December in Greenwich, The British Asian Trust ‘team’ walked, ran and jogged to raise awareness and funds for our high-impact education, health and livelihood programmes. There’s still time to sponsor one of our Santas. Contact Sukhi Vig
