The British Asian Trust has been selected as the Charity Partner for the 10th annual British Asian Sports Awards 2011.
The British Asian Sports Awards (BASA) globally showcases the immense sporting talent that exists within the Asian community in the UK. The 5th March event, marking BASA’s 10th anniversary, will be attended by some of the biggest names in sport, music and television.”
It gives BASA great pleasure to partner with The British Asian Trust as our official charity for the 10th anniversary of the awards,” said Neeraj Arora, Executive Vice President and Head of International Business for Sony Entertainment Network. “The vision of the British Asian Sports Awards has always been to support and help build the futures of the South Asian community, which is something that the Trust has continued to do since it was established. Knowing that BASA is helping the Trust carry out essential work is a great way of celebrating the awards’ 10 year milestone,” he said.
Over the past 10 years, BASA has helped develop the careers of many Asian sports personalities including Trust ambassador Isa Guha, star member of the England Women’s Cricket Team and 2010 winner of the British Asian Sports Personality of the Year. Trust Ambassador and celebrated cricketer Mark Ramprakash is a judge on the awards panel.
“The Trust is thrilled and honoured to have been chosen as BASA’s Charity Partner for the second year running,” said Manoj Badale, Trust chairman. Support from BASA helps us to meet the greatest needs in South Asia and the UK in the vital areas of education, livelihoods and health.”
