The ‘Making a Difference in Burnley’ project is a partnership with The Prince’s Charities, Burnley Borough Council, local businesses, charities, schools, faith communities and individuals to take forward the social, economic and environmental regeneration of Burnley.
The project is focused on key issues such as raising the educational performance, achievement and aspiration in Burnley schools, developing entrepreneurs and supporting local business and creating a positive image of Burnley in the region and nationally for it to become attractive for investors and big employers. It also hopes to look at ways of unlocking talent to give young people the skills to move into the labour market, promote community cohesion and develop the appreciation of a multi-faith, mixed heritage community.
The work of The British Asian Trust and 11 other Princes’s’ Charities was commended in a recently-released independent report praising their ‘significant contribution.’ “No other group of charities could have played the same role or achieved as much as The Prince’s Charities,” the report by the Cass Business School, stated.
