Credibility Alliance is a consortium of voluntary organisations committed towards enhancing accountability and transparency in the voluntary sector through good governance. It is an initiative that emerged from within the sector and was registered in May, 2004 as an independent, not-for-profit organisation after an extensive consultative process over a period of two years involving thousands of voluntary organisations all over India. As an organisation, CA aspires to build trust among all stakeholders through improving governance within the voluntary sector. Credibility Alliance is akin to a professional body that will set norms or standards of governance.

GuideStar India is a comprehensive portal about every NGO in India. It aims to help every individual / institution wanting to contribute time, financial or in-kind resources to the needy, find information about the organisations that meet their search criteria.
While GuideStar India does not apply its own credibility criteria, it encourages NGOs to be transparent and accountable by allowing them to present comprehensive information, to upload supporting documents & pictures and to make frequent updates. The site promotes transparency by ranking NGO search results on the basis of volume of information provided and how recently content was updated.
The British Asian Trust will support all its NGOs in India to register on the GuideStar India portal.

Pakistan Centre for Philathrophy (PCP) is a non governmental support organization comprising eminent citizens, civil society and corporate leaders working to expand the knowledge base and facilitate organised giving.
PCP seeks to promote altruistic efforts of national and international philanthropists by establishing effective linkages between grant-makers and nonprofit organizations . This requires bridging the information and credibility gap that exists between these two and which is a major impediment in the promotion of philanthropy. In line with its mission to achieve its objectives, PCP has designed innovative programmes (i) Nonprofit organizations Certification (ii) Philanthropy Support Services: mobilizing corporate philanthropy for education under the Public Private Partnerships (3ps) and an online web-based philanthropy portal (2p) Give2 Pakistan (iii) expanding the philanthropy knowledge map through evidence based Research and (iv) Communication and Advocacy to enhance societal understanding of philanthropy and development.
The Centre’s Not-For-Profit Certification Programme seeks to set sector-wide standards and incentives adoption of ‘ best practice’, providing an independent and objective evaluation of the NPO in critical areas of internal governance, financial management and programme delivery.It is mandatory for all grantees of The British Asian Trust in Pakistan to acquire certification by PCP.
