Director of Programme Strategy and Partnerships

The British Asian Trust is looking for a Director of Programme Strategy & Partnerships to lead programme growth and impact over the coming years.

We are especially interested in candidates who have personal and professional experience of South Asia and an understanding of the diaspora community in which the British Asian Trust has its roots.

This role is primarily about funding and overall strategy.  Operational delivery and in-country strategy is the responsibility of our in-country Directors.  We are looking for someone who can develop and establish successful partnerships with institutional funders, corporates and major foundations and co-develop ambitious programmes that align with these partners.  The Director will also be responsible for key issues such as safeguarding, impact measurement and managing a small UK team.

We have grown substantially in recent years and need someone who can play a significant role in continuing to drive this growth by securing increased programme funding that is consistent with our programme growth ambitions.

The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by HRH The Prince of Wales, together with a group of visionary British Asian business leaders in response to widespread poverty and hardship in South Asia. We use innovative solutions such as impact investment and social enterprise to tackle problems and inequalities in the areas of education, livelihoods, anti-trafficking and mental health across South Asia.

This is a very exciting time to be joining the organisation. We have an ambitious growth strategy in place, across both programmes and fundraising and we are also getting ready to join forces with a major conservation charity.

You will have a demonstrable track record of successfully delivering programme funding and partnership development along with significant experience of building institutional partnerships with Foundations, Government Funders and Corporates. You will also have a track record of building and developing high-performing teams. You must have a ‘can do’ attitude and resilience to work in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.  And of course, you must share our vision of a South Asia that is free from inequality and injustice.
