Exciting changes at the British Asian Trust
Last year The British Asian Trust and our partners launched the world’s largest Education Development Impact Bond in India.
Over the last 12 months we have been deepening our focus in the wider area of social finance to consider the areas in which we need to drive change beyond traditional charitable giving and philanthropy. Our Board believes that this focus on social outcomes combined with scale, strategic use of finance and data will enable us to make an even greater impact across South Asia.
To enable this change we are pleased to announce that Abha Thorat-Shah, one of our Founding Directors, who led the Education DIB, will be taking a new role as Executive Director (Social Finance). In her new role Abha will be responsible for the design, development and growth of this area of work, to enable us to showcase the leadership of our diaspora and wider supporter base to support the development of a South Asia that is free from poverty and inequality.
Our first new project is the $100m Outcomes Fund for Women and Girls launched by HRH The Prince of Wales earlier this year.
With Abha shifting her strategic focus to growing our social finance portfolio, we need another Director to drive our programme and partnership strategy and lead our programme and institutional funding working in unison with our senior leadership team. We are therefore hiring a new Director of Programme Strategy & Partnerships. Find out more here.
