Dr Shenila Rawal works as an applied economist, specialising in education, labour markets and issues of gender and poverty in developed and developing countries. In her Education research, she designs and implements methods for the collection of primary data, applies quantitative analysis and establishes control trials.

She is Managing Partner at the Oxford Partnership for Education Research and Analysis (OPERA) and works as an external consultant to several organisations, including the Department for International Development (DFID), the Education Commission and the World Bank.
