Abha Thorat-Shah appointed as Visiting Fellow of Practice at the Blavatnik School of Government

British Asian Trust Executive Director Social Finance, Abha Thorat-Shah, has been appointed as Visiting Fellow of Practice at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford.

The Blavatnik School of Government is a global school committed to improving the quality of government and public policymaking worldwide.

As a Visiting Fellow of Practice, this 12-month appointment to the prestigious School will see Abha engaging with students and academics from the School on deepening understanding of how social finance and cross-sector partnerships may help address some of the most pressing challenges facing South Asia. Abha’s role will help build bridges between the intellectual community at the Blavatnik School and the British Asian diaspora, as well as with public leaders and academic institutions in South Asia.

In addition, Abha will work closely with the Government Outcomes Lab (GO Lab) team, with a focus on GO Lab’s international data collaborative (INDIGO) and research on the use of outcomes-focused cross-sector partnerships (such as impact bonds, and outcomes funds).

Abha leads the Social Finance function at the British Asian Trust and is one of its founding team members. Abha is recognised globally as a leading practitioner and thought leader in the field. She has deep experience in international development and social finance and direct experience of designing and managing such cross-sector partnerships, impact bonds and outcomes funds.
