British Asian Trust supports donations for local Pakistan emergency relief agencies

The British Asian Trust today announced it would collect donations on behalf of two Pakistan-based organisations supporting emergency relief efforts following devastating floods which have impacted over 30 million people.

The British Asian Trust will collect donations into a UK bank account on behalf on two Pakistan-based organisations: the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) and Hands Pakistan. Both organisations are very well known and respected in Pakistan.

The social media accounts for both organisations highlight the urgent need for assistance on the ground, and the relief they are already providing.  For the latest updates on Twitter, you can follow @RSPN_PK or @HANDSPakistan.

British Asian Trust Chief Executive Richard Hawkes said: ““Right now, the most important thing for us is to get as much money as possible to those who need it. We know and trust these organisations and the work they are doing. Collecting funds on behalf them is the best way we can help provide emergency relief.

“We are already looking at how we might provide longer term recovery support given we already work in livelihoods and mental health programmes in Pakistan – two areas which will be critical in the weeks and months ahead. Donations made to the British Asian Trust will be transferred to RSPN and Pakistan so they can deliver immediate relief on the ground.
