Navanitha is living her football dream

Navanitha, 15 is an inspiration for her whole community. India has the highest number of child brides in the world. 47% of girls are married before their 18th birthday. Many communities see girls as an economic burden and early marriage transfers that responsibility. Yet despite the financial pressures of living in a single parent family, Navanitha managed to escape this path.

Her life changed when she signed up to a football programme with the Trust’s partner Dream A Dream. Girls playing football is not an accepted social norm, but Navanitha challenged this and proved a real natural. Her confidence grew and she has even represented India at street football.
