The British Asian Trust’s Heroes campaign receives notable recognition from Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Throughout lockdown, the British Asian Trust has been highlighting members of the British Asian community who have been going above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of others.

At the forefront of the battle against COVID-19, these individuals have been nominated by both family and friends, as well as individuals who have benefited from their support in whatever form it came. Be that exercise classes, food packages, mental health support or just a chat over zoom, the British Asian Heroes were nominated for making a positive impact on the lives of others, helping make lockdown that little bit easier.

We are delighted to share that our campaign has been endorsed by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with a personal letter expressing his whole-hearted support arriving earlier this week from No. 10.

Speaking about the brave and selfless work completed by British Asian Heroes, the PM said that he would like to “congratulate all the nominees of this fantastic event for your heroism, whether you are a doctor on the front lines or a volunteer making a real difference through everyday acts of kindness”.

It is also worth mentioning that the PM has also previously acknowledged the hard work of our Heroes nominee for July: The Skipping Sikh, saying that he “wanted to thank you for all that you are doing to support our extraordinary NHS, and encouraging the nation to pick up their skipping ropes and keep their spirits high by taking on your lockdown skip challenge!”.

To the PM the British Asian Trust would like to thank you for showing your support for our campaign. And to our British Asian Heroes, we hope you are reading this and being reminded that with your efforts to keep people of the British Asian community fed, moving, talking and smiling, you have made tens of thousands of lives brighter throughout the pandemic.
