Dr Abigail Entwistle

Dr Abigail Entwistle is the (Acting Senior) Director of Conservation Science and Design at Fauna & Flora International (FFI). After studying Zoology at Oxford, she gained a PhD from Aberdeen University focusing on the conservation biology of bats - resulting in an ongoing passion for these animals. She joined FFI in 1996 on the back of a project they funded to recover the Pemba flying fox, in the Zanzibar archipelago.

Over the last 25 years, she has gained extensive direct experience of biodiversity conservation and community livelihood development, supporting the planning and implementation of conservation projects across four continents, including as the Director of FFI’s Eurasia programme. She currently oversees the work of their Marine and Scottish Programmes, and has designed and managed a series of internal and external grant funds.
